Best TheBlaze Comment a definition of “family”?

pecete

Primary definitions (listed first), as follows:

Merriam-Webster: “a group of people who are related to each other”
Cambridge dictionary: “a social group of parents, children, and sometimes grandparents , uncles, aunts, and others who are related”
Wiktionary: “A group of people who are closely related to one another (by blood, marriage or adoption)”
Dictionary.com: “A basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not”

Story from TheBlaze & (H/T: Young Conservatives)

A dad posted to Twitter a screenshot of what he said was a multiple-choice question from his son’s high school health test.

The question asked for a definition of “family.” His son chose “a collection of related-by-blood individuals living together.”

But that was the wrong answer. (click pic for twitter post)

The correct choice? “A collection of individuals who care for and about each other.”

Will Saleton said his son was marked down 5 percent “because he chose this ‘incorrect’ definition of family.”

Some responders to Saleton’s post noted that mothers and fathers aren’t related by blood and that many parents adopt, which would make his son’s choice incorrect anyway. Saleton and others noted that often kids are too young to “care for” adults in a household, which makes the “correct” answer insufficient.

One responder noted that the “correct” answer “reduces family to any group of strangers.”

What do you say the definition of “family” is? Let us know in the comments!

A ‘New York Compliant’ AR-15 | TheBlaze.com plus BBC on top

TEXAS-FREEDOM Apr. 3, 2014 at 1:58pm

It’s great that they tried this, but instead of making a gun compliant with New York, why not make
New York compliant with the Constitution?

Here’s What It Looks Like When a Gun Manufacturer Releases a ‘New York Compliant’ AR-15 | TheBlaze.com.

A Missouri-based gun manufacturer announced this week that it will release a line of “New York Compliant” rifles, a market-based response to the Empire State’s strict new gun laws.

“With the continual trampling of the 2nd Amendment in New York, Black Rain Ordnance is proud to announce their ‘New York Compliant’ rifles,” the group said in a statement on its website. “These rifles feature all of the quality and craftsmanship of the standard BRO-lines, but with the added features that allow for legal possession.”

Features that make Black Rain Ordnance’s new rifles compliant with New York’s guns laws include: No pistol grip, a non-threaded muzzle fixed stock, 10-round low capacity approved magazine and a Lo-Pro gas block “without the evil bayonet lug.”

And if Black Rain’s move to create rifles that comply with New York’s new guns laws, which have been described as some of the “nation’s toughest,” sounds familiar, it should: They’re not the only company to move in this direction, and stories of such guns have been popping up since May 2013.

In fact, several New York-based gun shops have, for example, offered to replace the grip on non-complaint rifles so that they’re square with state’s laws.

“The modified gun still fires at the same rate and with the same power; the shooter just holds it slightly differently,” the Guardian reported. “These modified weapons do not have to be registered with the state.”

One gun maker in Rochester, N.Y., Just Right Carbines, manufactures modified semi-automatic rifles that comply with the New York’s Safe Act, which was signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in January 2013.

Just Right Carbines’ general manger, Anthony Testa, told the Guardian that New York authorities signed off on the modified rifles, telling him that his products complied with the law.

The Safe Act, which was the result of the 2012 mass shooting in Newtown, Conn., that claimed the life of 27 people, bans the sale of so-called “assault weapons” and requires that everyone who already owns a rifle categorized as such to register them with the state by 15 April 2014.

The Safe Act singles out add-on features, including bayonet mounts, grenade launchers and, of course, “protruding pistol grips.”

Another New York company, H&H Firearms, has been working on modifying its semi-automatic rifles to meet state law.

“It’s basically an AR-15 without the features,” a lawyer representing H&H Firearms told the Times Union.

“People are champing at the bit” for a legal version of the popular rifle, said the company’s manager Justin Reickart, adding that the modified rifles look “like a paintball gun.”

mikem…
sorry, your ‘look at the video’ attitude is ridiculous and the underlying ‘theories’ that have been advanced have been thoroughly debunked.

Instead of being thankful that engineering allowed those buildings to withstand that impact force at speed jumbo jets fully loaded with fuel (and larger than the buildings had been designed to tolerate) striking, and instead of being toppled immediately standing long enough for thousands to escape, a petty fearful self-important few choose to believe that a conspiracy that would have necessarily involved hundreds of people has been kept completely silent for more than a decade…

It doesn’t happen, mike, and arguing the contrary is providing our enemies with ammunition and our allies with doubt that the sheeple of America will ever throw off the yoke of big government tyranny and resume the mantle of world leadership.

Bin Laden never claimed it was an inside job. There are plenty of REAL things to be suspicious of your government about, stop wasting time with fantasies.

Walmart “Destroy Capitalism”

There was a ‘black friday’ protest at the local Wal-Mart down the street from me, and out of curiosity I went to see the ‘Big Event,’ and was delighted to see…

Both (i.e. TWO) protesters were having lunch at the McDonalds inside the super-center, and I asked them “Why are you protesting Wal-Mart, and eating at a McDonalds that rents space inside the store you are protesting?”

God Above I so loved the look on their faces, and enjoyed the looks even more when the rest of the store patrons grinned, laughed, or chuckled.

if you gave everyone that works for wal-mart an eight dollar an hour raise is would cost the company roughly 16 billion dollars. if you were to pay 13000 employees 100000 a year it comes out to 1.3 billion a year. if you pay 169000 employees 100000 dollars a year its 16 billion roughly. that leaves 831000 employees unemployed. liberals hate math.

Seeing Callo doing such name calling is ironic, indeed, because Callo and Banksy are both among the most astounding achievements of douche status in modern history. Got to admit, though, the two of them have quite a scam going… never do a day’s work, have no real talent, just BS your way through the day. Maybe I’ll try that myself. I can put my conscience in a jar for a while. Beside, I’ve been told often enough, by people who should know, that I actually HAVE talent.

Oh, and the quote “Slate claims Walmart mistook for a Banksy” is also ironic, in that Slate, apparently mistakes itself for a journalist site. It’s not. It’s propaganda and, yup, douchery.

Che Guevera, and that occutard mask of Guy Fawkes, but two of many pieces of evidence that all these protesters are full of wind. Guevera was a murdering, back-stabbing highway bandit. Fawkes helped out Catholic extremists in Holland during the so-called Spanish Inquisition (which happened due to Islamist imperialism in Europe, BTW), then returned to England and participated in a plot to literally blow up the elected gov’t and establish a Catholic dictatorship. Try telling any of these prize douche models about that

kill the enemy as one would a rabid animal

Best Blaze Comment
This brings back the painful memory of a cook in my unit in Germany the day our chaplain broke the news that his brother was on PanAm flight 103 that was also taken down by a Libyan terrorist’s bomb. One of my subordinate’s was also in the Berlin disco that was bombed by Libyan terrorists (the Libyan government). He survived and still has shrapnel working it’s way out of his back.

My son deploys to Afghanistan later this month. He knows to remove the politics from his mind and understands that the innocent deaths of thousands of Americans are a just and proper cause to let loose hell on those that perpetrated these acts or plan future acts of terrorism. He understands to remove the emotion that clouds judgement and kill the enemy as one would a rabid animal: You don’t hate the animal, but kill it nonetheless because it is the right thing to do and not lose a seconds sleep over it.

It IS crap. Our stable society is being assailed from all sides by the unstable Left. Obammycare, War, Taxes, Amnesty, Sexual Deviancy, the war on our children by educators in and out of our schools…

It’s pretty clear that war has been declared on us by the government. I just hope we all realize it before they make an official announcement.

Yes Texas needs to get going. In an economic crisis the people voted not one but twice for BO it is very hard to argue with that kind of Short Bus. Texas has spent billions in the last few years but not on Texans. They have spent most of it on Katrina refugees and illegal aliens and the fact that they won’t go home. Houston alone had to raise taxes just to cover the cost of tutors year round to attempt to bring NOLO kids up to speed for the schools. Couple that with slashed oil production because of Obamas illegal shutting of federal oil leases and lands and the out of work roughnecks, and the EPA stopping mining and production of energy as well as the thousands of businesses that have been closed as a result and you have a lot of red ink.

If Texas seceded most of the Welfare professionals would leave immediately and probably go to Cali or Maine for the lavish benefits. The working welfare cases would just go back to work. Also the corporate taxes that the federal government relies so heavily on like Exxon and Valero would no longer go to DC and let us not forget how much military hardware and munitions the Federal Government purchases that is made right here in Texas. The Agri-Business from Texas A&M and the number of US military personnel.

I think Texas would do much better after a soul restoring divorce from this abusive dysfunctional marriage we have had to endure with the self centered egotistical parasitic rest of the nation.
